Clinical Mental Therapist
Karena completed her second Master’s Degree in Clinical and Mental Health Counseling, shortly after obtaining her first Master’s Degree in Forensic Psychology. Although she gained great skill and knowledge in obtaining her first degree, her passion for mental health and counseling radiated during the completion of her second degree. Karena has 13 years of clinical experience within a variety of settings including inpatient psychiatric services, outpatient programs, community based services, and substance abuse rehabilitation programs. She has provided clinical and administrative supervision to social work and counseling students and professionals. Karena is a Washington, D.C. native with roots implanted in the poverty stricken and suburban areas of the DMV. She understands that foundation behind the statement “to struggle is to succeed,” which drives her passion to become a resource and provide resources within her community.
