Biography
Who am I? Chalét Allen.
I was born and raised in Pittsburgh, PA, and obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree in Applied Psychology from Pennsylvania State University, Allegheny. Choosing to pursue a career in helping professions early on was an easy decision due to my innate concern for others' well-being. After completing my undergraduate studies, I entered the non-profit sector, specifically in Kinship Foster Care, embarking on a journey of self-discovery, healing, and expertise. My personal experiences overcoming the challenges of parental incarceration, as well as family struggles with substance abuse, heightened my awareness of the damaging effects of complex trauma, driving my dedication to serving children and families. I felt compelled not only to advocate for young individuals but also to empower them to advocate for themselves.

In 2022, I obtained a Masters of Arts in Student Affairs and a Masters of Science in Professional Counseling from Carlow University. My approach to dismantling systemic barriers within the BIPOC community prioritizes trauma-informed practices, focusing on "what happened to you" rather than "what is wrong with you." With this mindset, I adopt a holistic, person-centered approach as a mental health professional. I integrate evidence-based modalities such as CBT, solution-focused therapy, and psychodynamic approaches, utilizing the framework of emotional intelligence. My objective as a counseling professional is to facilitate clients' growth and change by guiding them through self-discovery and fostering their connection to the world around them.
