Biography
As a Licensed Graduate Professional Counselor (LGPC) in the state of Maryland, Carrin Brown strives to help her clients live an abundant life and become the best version of themselves. With her blend of spirituality and clinical background, Carrin feels that healing can be reached by all.
Carrin is a graduate of Bowie State University and Trinity University DC, where she studied Clinical Mental Health Counseling. As a Psychotherapist at Onyx Therapy Group, Carrin works with individuals and groups of all ages. Carrin considers herself to be an eclectic counselor as she uses many different
theories when working with her clients. With the use of Person-Centered Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Gestalt, and Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy, she works to help her clients gain strength and joy for their minds as she believes that all people have their own identity and needs, and there is no one way to provide support and care for all. Carrin loves to work with children and adolescents and women. She works as a mentor, coach, and counselor, which is where she gained her love for helping others, especially working with younger generations, which led her to her ultimate choice of becoming a psychotherapist. Carrin has studied and had training in many areas to include, Lonnie E. Mitchell Behavioral and Mental Health Academy (Substance Abuse), Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral
Training, Advocacy Training for Clients, De-escalation Training, and Outpatient Mental Health Clinic Training. She is always working to expand her knowledge as a counselor.
Carrin specializes in working with youth and adolescents, groups, and those dealing with relationship issues, self-esteem, stress and anxiety. She has led many youth groups and worked with women groups on numerous occasions.
While away from the office, Carrin enjoys spending quality time with her family, attending sporting events, coaching, working out, shopping, and watching HGTV. Carrin believes that everyone can become their best and achieve healing through hard work, faith, and perseverance.
