Daniya Nixon
Clinical Mental Therapist
M.A., LGPC
Biography
I am a licensed Graduate Professional Counselor in the state of Maryland and earned my Masters from Towson University. I work with adolescent and adult clients and help them identify their current resources while working to build upon them and establish new coping skills. I focus on the ways in which
mental, physical, spiritual, and social aspects intersect and effect client experiences. My approach draws on many theoretical orientations and techniques with the ultimate goal of creating a safe space in which
clients feel capable and empowered to make positive changes in their lives.
Additionally, I also have experience working with survivors of intimate partner violence, sexual violence, and human trafficking. This work has heavily influenced my trauma-informed approach to therapy.
Daniya is a military Veteran and draws on this knowledge and experience when assisting fellow Veterans though a variety of life transitions.
Therapy is a collaborative process in which clients are the expert in their experience. My role is to help you understand and make sense of those experiences in an empowering way, and I feel privileged to
engage in this process with clients.
