Biography
Kristel Roberts is a Licensed Graduate Professional Counselor in Washington, DC and a National Certified Counselor. She obtained her Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Capella University.
As a psychotherapist, Kristel enjoys working with individuals, couples and groups who experience challenges with behavior issues, mood disorders and emotional disturbances. She works with adults who experience such symptoms as: trauma, anger, depression, anxiety, relationship challenges, and feelings of hopelessness. Kristel uses culturally competent approaches and techniques that assist clients with increasing their self-awareness; achieving
independence and integration; changing dysfunctional thoughts, emotions and behaviors to healthy ones; and establishing and maintaining healthy relationships. Her work with clients has included, but is not limited to: victims of domestic violence relationships and/or sexual abuse; mood and personality disorders; co-dependency; post-traumatic stress disorder; anger management; stress management, and suicidal ideation.
As such, she often uses Cognitive Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Family Therapy, and Holistic Therapy. Kristel believes that counseling services are designed to assist you with finding balance, creating and achieving goals, feeling a sense of fulfillment, and establishing mental wellness. Finding a counselor that makes people feel safe and comfortable in sharing their innermost thoughts and feelings is important.
