Biography
With vast experiences in both the classroom and psychological field, Marcus Bailey has dedicated his efforts to providing quality education to all students. He is a decorated K-12 instructor, former mental health practitioner, and student advocate whose goal is to “educate both the heart and minds of children,” which he believes is essential to his personal mission as an educational leader. He has over 11 years of experience fostering student and family success through work in school psychology, classroom instruction, and student-centered interventions. Marcus most recently works with the KIPP DC organization where he is a part of the instructional leadership and curriculum planning team for one of its charter schools in the Benning Ridge neighborhood of Southeast Washington, DC. In this capacity Marcus is able to deliver instructional feedback to teachers as it relates to implementation strategies to improve their pedagogical practice.
Marcus’ focus is primarily targeted in urban and culturally diverse schools where he collaborates on various levels in the school community ranging from administrative teams to families collecting, analyzing, and using data to guide school-based decisions that improve student achievement. His work is grounded in a commitment to excellence, equity, and justice while investing and proactively addressing the social-emotional needs of marginalized black and brown children. Marcus has earned his B.A. in Psychology from Southern Illinois University-Carbondale, an M.Ed. in School Psychology and Counseling services from Howard University and an M.S.Ed from The Johns Hopkins University in Educational Leadership and Administration.
