Biography
Sakira Coleman is a licensed social worker who joined the Onyx Education team in Fall of 2021. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Health Sciences from James Madison University and her master’s in Social Work from The Catholic University of America.
Sakira has over five years of experience in curriculum and program development with a specific focus on positive social and emotional growth, mental health and well-being, as well as community organizing and social justice. Additionally, Sakira is well-versed in providing intensive case management services, resource connection, and therapeutic and crisis intervention services to adults and families. Her therapeutic style utilizes a culturally humble approach that integrates motivational interviewing, strengths based therapy, and empowerment theory to build critical foundation in the realm of self-efficacy and hopefulness in clients.
