As we nestle into cozy season, a perfect opportunity arises to reevaluate and reflect. A self care reset is calling your name. The changing of the seasons offers an opportune time to reevaluate and reassess what is working and not working in your self care routine that supports your growth and development. “Life is life-ing” is a phrase you’ll hear a lot of people using right now as we are in the height of the back to school season and looming ahead is the busy time of the holidays.
We can utilize nature’s cues of the changing leaves and brisker weather as an invitation to turn inward and decide what we are taking with us into the next season of our lives and what we are leaving behind. The changing color of the leaves as they get ready to fall from the trees offers a colorful visual metaphor for us to use nature as a guide to practice introspection and practicing discernment about what is serving us in this season of our life.
Some crucial questions/journal prompts we may want to consider are:
What are my non negotiables of self care
What are my emotional boundaries with loved ones?
What can I outsource during this busy time?
How have my defense mechanisms served me and what can I let go of?
How do I nourish myself physically, mentally, and spiritually?
What do I need more of to support my healing and growth?
What is my fall/winter rest practice?
What I am willing to let go of?
What adds value/what takes away value to my life?
What is in my locus of control and what is not?
