The Spiral of Healing

Ayanna Blue

In a world of fast culture and immediate gratification, it is easy to become mystified by the natural cycle of the healing process. We must remind ourselves that it is indeed "a process" orientated to nature's life cycles, with every season and stage uniquely signifying different meanings for every individual. Divesting from the idea of fast gratification will aid in one's ability to surrender and submit.  The spiral is a particularly helpful visual metaphor to help conceptualize the ebbs and flows of a healing journey to help avoid the tendency to overthink, overanalyze, and get frustrated with where you find yourself in time and space at any given stage.

Anchored by a guiding principle that where you are today in this very moment is exactly where you should be and the universe, spirit, and your ancestors have a direct mainline connection and ordination on your life, helps to release the tendency to want to overly control aspects of your circumstances~ this wisdom is in the act of submission. The visual of a spiral helps to understand healing as a never ending, continuous evolutionary process.

When healing from complex trauma, attention to pace, detail, and grace is fundamental. Leaning into some of the great thought leaders of the work, healing is not linear; it's circular.

When you think you have arrived or worked through something enough to possess it, you have yet another lesson waiting in the wings. Your healing is contingent on your ability to accept, understand, and pivot gracefully, with an intuitive knowing that you are on a divine path. Continuing to show up for yourself is the solitary act that proves that you are continuing to grow. Here are a few mantras to remember while you are on your healing journey and treating yourself with the utmost grace.

  1. I am right where I need to be

  2. Who I am today has to be enough, I am doing my very best.

  3. What is for me will not miss me, I was born inherently worthy

  4. I am standing on the shoulders of my ancestors and heal on behalf of them and me

  5. I lean into intuitive knowing, a guide far more powerful that myself

  6. I will focus on what is in my locus of control, all else, I will release to a higher power

  7. My feet are firmly planted on the ground, waves wash over me, I have the capacity to withstand the ebbs and flows of my  journey

  8. Just when I thought I was over something, it shows up again to teach me something new

  9. I am a divine being, I am curious about releasing, reassessing, and reconnecting in pursuit of my alignment
